Glitter rocker and consummate songwriter - he wrote "Changes" and "The Man Who Sold the World" - has offended the House of Geeks by casting the ultimate aspersion on cyberspace. "It's rubbish" said David Bowie, sounding more like Mom and Dad these days than a defiant character in A Clockwork Orange.
Geeks are burning Bowie records from Abijan to Malaysia and redigitizing his CD's with the cheery sounds of Donny Osmond. The head geek and president of Geek Rights (a Washington group consisting essentially of Robert Dole's illegitimate children), states that cyberspace was built by geeks for geeks. Uninvited guests are told to withhold nasty and irrelevant comments. On another front, Senator Al D'Amato's modem was taken away.
